Who are we?

Kelly Emblem, OTR/L - Canada

Hello! My name is Kelly and I am an Occupational Therapist based in Ottawa, Canada. I became an OT in order to work in international development and global health in order to give back to the communities that I grew up in, throughout Nepal and Vietnam. I have worked in Northern Canada with indigenous youth, virtually with a physical rehabilitation clinic in South India, and with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. Currently, I work as the OT Program Coordinator for the International Center for the Advancement of Community-Based Rehabilitation. As well, my husband (also an OT!) and I own our own private practice where we serve military veterans and new-comers to Canada.

Gerald Oler, OTR/L - USA/BOTSWANA

I have been an Occupational therapist  for over 10 years working in multicultural settings namely Kenya, Botswana and USA. My view of OT is informed by the belief that OT plays a major role in health promotion and community programing. We are problem-solvers and part of the solution. I have experience in working in acute, out-patient, CBR and long-term settings.  Initiated community health promotion activities in rural villages in Botswana, Founder of Rotary club of Palapye and has presented in various OT conferences. I am also the WFOT 1st Alternate Delegate for Botswana.
